GM is bleeding money just like Ford, so they went back to drum brakes (cheaper) Just kidding maybe.
anyways from what i have read and seen the only way to get all wheel discs brakes in the 05-07 classic body style was to get the vortec max towing package. but i could be wrong and that only applies to the NBS.
anyways i agree ive driven and towed with my 06 Rear drums and my dad's 03 all wheel discs, and the 03 stops it better.
in some ways i wish i had looked at a Titan but i have heard that they are a little uncomforatable. always been a GM fan though.

My '04 Suburban had disc, braking wasn't the greatest just pulling a 14' trailer with atv's on it. My '07 Silverado has much better braking. I think that the disc would work better with the anti-lock. Part of it was costs, but not all like you think. The cost of a brake job is much cheaper on drum. I did my own brake job on the "Burb" , rotors alone are $75-100 for aftermarket. You also have a mini-drum parking brake inside the rotor that will add cost if replacement is needed, also a pain in the #^*& to deal with that. When I first saw that the rear was drum, I was dissapointed, but not now. I'm happy with the braking on my '07.

Fox Racing :
Hi know what you mean about the mini drum. I am doing the brakes on my 2001 HD 2500. It has the 4wheel disc and the drum park brake.
I have done three wheels but on the fourth (the left rear), the drum brakes are either really scored in or jammed as I cannot pound them off. I have loosened the adjustment screw from the backing plate hole, but no luck. I cannot slacken the park brake cable as there is no slack adjuster on my truck.
Do you know where the slack adjustment might be ? Do you have any advice on how to get the drum/rotor off ? I have bought a new set of drum/rotors as there were worn so I am not worried about saving the old one, and have there fore been beating the crap out of it and it is still stuck. I think that the park brake shoes or springs, or adjuster is stuck or jammed as I cannot turn the wheel no and it is jamming against the park brake lever that goes through the back of the backing plate.
Got any ideas ?
Thanks
Phil

just like bad2006z71 said they went to drum brakes because it was cheaper in the 1500's base models .
My pickup has drums and it is no where near a base model truck
