2500 suspension help

I have a 2005 Yukon XL 2500 that I installed a 1-3" torsion key lift in the front with the relocation brackets for the shocks to give them more range. The tech that installed the lift said he had the lift as low as it would go and the front end had the appearance like it was squatted in the back. The vehicle rode terrible which I knew I would lose some of the ride quality by altering the suspension. When you would travel over bumps in the road the front of the vehicle would feel as it it wanted to bounce up and down but had no where to go. I did order a 1" kit for the rear to give it more of a level stance and the appearance looks great but the ride is still terrible. I asked the tech about installing longer or extended shocks to assist with the travel and was told that would not really make a difference because even though the new keys were installed and turned all the way down that the vehicle just didn't have any room to travel up and down over bumps. I am not a mechanic but this doesn't make sense to me. I have installed spacer kits before on vehicles with coil springs and the ride was really effected over bumps and put extended shocks on it and solved the problem. This vehicle does have the auto ride suspension which I am not concerned with keeping but would like to have a little better ride quality. Any suggestions?
