New to lifts, could use some advice.
I'm fairly new to the concept of lifting a pickup, but I know the basics. I drive a 99' Silverado 1500 4x4 and currently have it scheduled to have some repairs done. Ive put a good amount of money into it already and will probably end up keeping it for a long time so after a while I was thinking of puttting a lift, bigger wheels, and tires etc on. Ive looked at a few companies, but the most appealing are 2 rough country kits, one for 4" and one 6", both for around $1000. I'm mostly wondering what to look for, what brands are good, and what type would be best. I DON'T want a body lift. I feel they totally defeat the purpose of lifting. I was thinking 3-6 inches higher to replace the 245/75/16s i have on and be able to do some light-medium off roading and it must be able to stand up to hard winters. And as always, cost is a factor.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

There are different lift kits available for 1999 Silverado. Rough country is a nice choice though. You have to consider what wheel and tire size are you putting on your ride. take note that body lift may need to modify the frame bracket. It is commonly used with engine swaps and modifications for installing exhaust headers.
