Exclamation Tire and rim fitment

Anyone with experience please help. Will a LT255/75/17 tire fit/stretch onto a 17x9 rim easily and safely? I don't want to try if its a 50/50. Any person who has tried before would be much appreciated.

Greetings CG, welcome to the Forum.

The LT255/75/17 Tires are 8" wide, and about 32.1" in diameter.

The 17x9" Rims you have are 1" wider than those Tires.
This would demand that the Sidewalls of that size run outward from the recommended angle of Vertical by 1/2" each.

Though this does not exceed the average allowance of displacement, one would have to run the Tire Air Pressure quite high, to realize a more equal tread wear across the tread of the Tire. The outward offset would further exacerbate other performance issues as well.

If possible, you could select the Tire size of LT275/70/17, which are 9.2"wide, and 32.2" in diameter, an appropriate width IF the diameter is within acceptable limits for you. The OEM Tire diameter for your vehicle is 30.6"
