08 Suburban stuck in 4 wheel drive.
My "service 4 wheel drive" message came on a few times this past week. The Suburban was still driving normally in auto. I turned the dial to 4 wheel drive to see if it would come on.
The 4 wheel drive did come on. Then it wouldn't go back to Auto or 2 wheel.
I got it to go back into 2 wheel drive after watching a video on Youtube.
I put on the E brake, I turned the key to on, I stepped on the brake, I put the truck in neutral. I then held the drive dial all the way to the right for 10 seconds. I then turned the dial to 2 wheel drive and it stayed there.
Any ideas what is wrong?

Might have been the motor stuck. My son's 2000 is getting some replacement in that area as it has over 285K, he had the transfer case motor off the salvage Tcase, and installed it on the suburban just to get it out of 4 wheel drive. Also with the front differential apart (good thing, needs bearings). My garage now smells like a garage with 90W oil included.
