Default 1999 Suburban 1500 brake pedal issue

Hi, I own a 1999 Suburban. Everything's great except that the brake pedal does not react as if it as power brakes. Everything is up to snuff but truck feels like I have not got good brakes. Being told these trucks suffered from this issue. Some say convert to disc brakes in the rear and others say proportioning valve, master cylinder and rear shoes and rear cylinder upgrades. See many owners have had this problem. Is there anything I can do to it? All my other Suburbans always had great pedal and stopping power. Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the forum.
I don't know if the power brakes in that year used hydroboost or a vacuum system but you might want to check that system out to make sure it's functioning properly before you dive into mechanical changes.
