Default 1999 tahoe.please help

i had a problem with my 1999 LS Tahoe. currently last night my car overheated which forced me to the side of the road. apparently i didnt have any coolent, but the thing is i put coolent in it last week. so i put water in it to last me to get home, but the water didnt cycle at all. i let the car sit overnight, put coolent in. turned on the heater, waited for quiet awhile, it didnt blow hot air at all, just blew cold air. if anyone can help me with this situation i would appreciate it. ive just been having problems with this car, which i just bought it 9 months ago.

First thing I'd do is replace the thermostat & check the old one to find out if it's bad. Put a pot of water on the stove & hold the old thermostat with a coat hanger & see if the stat open before the water boils...if it stays closed that's your problem & if you've never flushed your system nows the time. Start here & we can go from there.

thankz knotacare. i found out what happend i took it to my local mechanic, and told me that gasket needs to be changed there is a leak. and that water is going into the engine. to get it repaired its gonna cost me 2gs. and on top of that i kno for a fact that my transmission is gonna go. so to sum it all up, its time for a new car. i bought this car for 5000 thinking that there are no problems, but i thought wrong. so now im looking for a s10 or a blazer. but thanks for the help i appreciate it.= )

oh my god dude, 2g's WOW.. I work at a gm dealership and we wouldn't charge more than 750 for the itnake gaskets, which it sounds like. unless you engine needs ehad gaskets "which would cause white smoke to come out of the exhaust" ur getting ripped off
