2001 Suburban 2500 auto ride shocks
 

My Suburban has auto ride shocks, and if I replace them with the same shocks it will be expensive, anyone have a suggestion.

IMO not worth it. Replace with regular shocks.

If I replace them with regular shocks, the light on the dash will stay on, how do you get it to go off? Thanks Dennis

Pull the fuse for the autoride system. Its in the underhood fuse box

I've looked in the fuse box under the hood and on the side of the dash, I'm not seeing anything marked as auto ride. What is the fuse marked as?

The fuse is located under the hood and marked as RTD Autoride (Real Time Damping) image below

Thanks for your help, I'll be pulling that fuse today. I'd taken it to a shop and was quoted a price of around $1700 and I think that's a bit much for four shocks.

I've just pulled the RTD fuse, but the message center still says---Service Ride Control, what can I do to get the computer to think there is no Auto Ride option?

To remove the error message, you can either have the bcm reprogrammed or add a resistor to fool the system into thinking that the system is still in place. The reprogram is the best solution, but more expensive. It essentially would delete the auto ride system, so that the computer does not think it is installed.

Disconnect the Negative battery terminal, remove the fuse, reconnect battery.
Just learned that on another site looking to fix the same issue.
