2002 Suburban LT with Autoride

I just turned 50K miles on my 2002 Suburban LT with Autoride when the Autoride quit. The fuse for the compressor is fine. The truck used to ride like a caddy and now rides like a 69 dodge van! I checked the plastic lines to each shock and they all appear to be intact. Where's my next best place to check?

Probably a faulty compressor, very common on the older GMT800's with Autoride.
A new automatic level control service compressor part number P/N 15254590 is an updated replacement and will last a good long time.

:DThanks for the prompt reply on my 2002 Suburban Autoride question. I have one follow up question:
I called my dealer to inquire about a replacement compressor and he gave me a different Chevy Part number 10395825. You mentioned an improvement to the Autoride with this new compressor. Is the part number you specified fully interchangeable with the compressor part number from my dealer?
I just want to get it right befor I put down my $300. Thanks again!

The part #15254590 is fully compatible with your 2002 Suburban (it fits all 2001-2005 GM models with Autoride) and is an update (although it does not superceed) P/N10395825.

The part is slighly more expensive due to it's more costly water resistant design.

When installing the new part be sure to install the included hose's and airbox.

Just wanted to say thanks for the great advice on the diagnosis of my 2002 Suburban Autoride problem. I ordered a new compressor P/N 15254590 from www-gm-car-parts.com for $287.00 and had it on my front door in 3 days. The install took only 15 minutes and my Burb is riding like a caddy again. My dealer wanted over $400 for the same unit ! Keep up the great advice!

The autoride compressor on my 2002 Suburban also quit. Where is the fuse for the compressor?

Thanks for the good news!

The Autoride fuse is labeled "RTD" for Ride Control and is in the underhood fuse box at the front edge center location.

Will the part # you referenced also work on my 2002 Tahoe LT with autoride? My compressor started to get really loud and then just quit about 6 months ago. Also, is the install really as easy as 15 minutes? Thanks! Mine has 114,000 miles and we love it!

Update... It's done. I figured this out on my own. Thanks anyway.

RE: 2002 Suburban LT with Autoride

Just had this same problem. Thanks to this post, I was able to buy a new compressor and get the autoride working. The problem is that the Service Ride Control message still comes on. I confirmed that the rear shocks are lifting. I manually activated the rear level sensors, and neither one appeared to engage the compressor, even though the compressor comes on at startup. Could I have two bad sensors? No error code is stored, so I am clueless as to how to proceed. At $120 a whack, I don;t want to replace both sensors.

Any help would be appreciated.
