2003 Tahoe Multiple Electrical Issues
 

I am trying to do some research for my parents. They have a 2003 Tahoe that they bought about 4 years ago and have had issues ever since. Probably about a month or 2 after they bought it here and there the service 4x4 light would come on and then go off, same with the seat belt light. They took it back to the dealer and since it was already out of warranty the dealer told them to pound sand... Real nice but o well. So since then the language in the cluster will barely ever be in english. Usually in spanish or french. Eventually the speedo and tach would do strange things like read we were going 120 mph and the tach would be at redline even though we were stopped at a light.

It was recommended to take the cluster out and send it off to be fixed, which we did and since we have not had problems with the speedo and tach. But still the issue with the language and the service 4x4 light and seatbelt light. So fast forward a couple years and they have just been dealing with it, now the interior lights come on and will not go off unless you use the dome override switch. Not the end of the world but rather annoying. So with some preliminary searching and asking a buddy it seems as if it might be the BCM, or body control module.

Is this likely the problem? Anyone else experience these symptoms?

I am sorry to hear that you have had so many issues with your Tahoe.

Has your friend scanned the truck for any codes. Unfortunately, the cluster issue that you mentioned is a known problem and it is good that your parents had the cluster repaired. The other problems could relate to a number of problems and they need to be diagnosed. It could relate to the BCM, but you would want to review the problems, before throwing parts at the problem.
