Well I disconnected the line on purge valve and still won't run right. Disconnected line fro. Tank to canister still same. Just discovered my fuel pressure is only 20 psi on a fairly new pump and pressure drops as soon as I shut key off. It just doesn't make sense to run bad only when full. Is there any reason the pressure would be lower on a full tank?

That pressure is too low, at minimum I would say you need 50 psi... when you say fairly new pump, was the replacement pump OEM or aftermarket... cheap pumps usually fail after about 2 years... the original pump cost more will likely last 7-10 years...

For some reason no matter what if the tank is completely full I don't get any fuel pressure. I was showing only 20 psi and running but cutting out under a load. I changed the fuel filter and went up to 40 psi better but not the 50 +/- it's supposed to have. It ran much better but would St cut out when I was on it hard. I topped the tank off again around 3 gallon or less and again no pressure at all and won't start. I have tried removing the gas cap disconnected the evap vent valve and evap purge solenoid to no avail. Pulled it home bled around 1 gallon out and getting 10 psi but not holding. Still barely starts and sputters then dies. Also for some reason the guts from one of the cats has started breaking up and rattling it's way through the exaust. Maybe a coincidence IDK. I'm very confused.

I'm stumped. If I get a couple of gallons out of the tank I get 20 to 40 psi. If I fill tank back up the pressure goes to 0 to 5 psi at mist. I disconnected the o urge solenoid and couldn't blow through it but replaced it anyway with no change. Removing the fast cap when it's running bad makes it die but gas Ni effect when it's running better I.e. 20 + psi.

time to remove the pump; replace the pump and filter and inspect the insides of the tank. Wouldn't be a bad idea to check that the fuel pump is getting 12v and the wiring can carry a load. |
Well turns out that it was the flex line from the pump to the mounting plate inside the tank was missing the clamp. The line had slipped off the nipple and when the tank was full and dropped down from the weight of the gas it was letting the pressure back into the tank.

if your luck is like mine...the fuel pump will now crap out within the next 2 months.

The metal flapper is missing in my 09! How do I fix this?

Remove the gas cap, look down the filling tube and see if that little metal flapper is gone. If it is, that's your problem. If it's not there, it's sitting in the bottom of your gas tank. When you fuel up, it's getting flushed down to where the fuel pump draws your fuel from. Same thing going on with my 07 Hoe. Check engine light is on and every now and then I'll get a TIGHTEN GAS CAP message. It'll show up as an emissions code because with that flapper gone, excess fumes are escaping. Let me know if you find it gone.
