2007 Battery Voltage
 

Ok, well some of you didn't believe me when i said according to the gauge on the dash the voltage was 15 volts. And then others said the gauges are inaccurate.

Well, according to my Tekonsha P3 the gauge is pretty accurate!

And then SOMETIMES after over an hour of driving the Voltage will drop down to around 13.2 volts (first pic) but this makes our power inverter (if we use it) beep like crazy due to voltage drop over the cheap very undersized wiring to the outlets.

IIRC, we said that w/ the way the computer controlled regulation system, the voltage varies from 11+ to 14-15. Supposedly improves mpg. Probably about as effective as AFM.

hmmm... well AFM I find is decently effective, this variable voltage crap, not so much.

On way down to FL afm was in V4 for a good deal of the trip. (Got 16.5 mpg for 2/3 of the trip! :D) And we got to Keuka Lake and back every weekend in the summer (2 Hr drive) and V4 mode is plenty to make a noticeable difference in mileage.

I've had two w/ AFM and both only went into V4 mode on level roads below about 50 mph or w/ a tail wind at higher speeds. That said, I get about 17-18 on hwy at 70 and about 12-13 in town.

My Mercedes Airstream Sprinter RV diesel gets that and weighs a lot more w/ more air resistance.

hmmm... I generally do 75mph on the highway and i still V4 a decent amount... hmm.. WEll since I did my sprack plugs my mileage wen tup from 14.4 to 15.2. I can't complain about that.


I would love to have that RV you have, not huge but not small, great for traveling. What kinda of motor does that puppy have?

I have used an inverter on trips before to charge the kids electronics and have never seen an issue with it dropping out... interesting...

We are planning on running a dedicated circuit to a power inverter that we plan on mounting under the right rear captains chair. That way its hidden and wont suffer voltage drop from the crappy outlets.

I like what gm did for our 2002. It had a door covering 4 outlets under the radio, out let in center consul, an out let for the captains chairs and the outlet in the trunk. The alternator also was not variable so no probs with voltage ever and the wiring was better because we never burned any outlets and the same compressor that we use now runs much slower and then burns out the outlets in our 2007. so, if we have to use little compressor, up goes the hood and straight to battery, it runs real fast from there...

You might want to check out the inverter that comes standard with the hybrid Tahoe as an option.

i cant seem to find the hybrid tahoe inverter on gm parts direct.

I have had no luck either :( even checked EBay...
I know they have them because the lady at the car show a few years back stopped me from taking the Hybrid Tahoe on display apart so I could see what the inverter looked like :p:eek:
It was located in the jack stowage area, I had climbed into the back of the Tahoe and pulled the stowage cover and was digging around to try and see the inverter assembly. It appeared to be fan-less and that is why I was wanting to see it before she kindly asked me to get the hell out of the truck and quick taking it apart:D
