I have a 2008 F250 and this tahoe. I will tell you that dealing with ford's customer service is 10x better than trying to deal with chevy's customer service and the big bonus is the truck isn't falling apart and burning oil like this tahoe is. The F250 has had a VERY rough life and has more miles as well. Chevy jerked me around for over a month. Nobody could get in touch with the service manager at the first dealership that I tried including Chevy it was very frustrating. I called this new dealership today and got the service manager on the first try which was encouraging.

Hi strokinpower,

We're sorry that you haven't had a good experience with Chevy Customer Service in the past. If there is ever anything we can do for you in the future, please let us know, and we will try to find a resolution to your concerns.

Yes there is something you could do, you could admit that there is a problem here with these vehicles and fix them!

This is sad. I have owned nothing but GM trucks, 1977 chevy cheyenne, 1980 Silverado, 2000 Sonoma, 2004 Silverado and now a 2008 2500 HD LTZ which will be my very last GM Truck. My 08 2500HD has a crack in it dash by the airbag and I spoke to Chevrolet customer service and after getting jerked around they eventually said there was nothing they could do for me. They LIED to me and said since I was not the original owner they could not verify how the crack got there. That's BS, which all of you know, they know exactly how the crack got there.

Customer Service has gone out the window these days. The people help bail them out and this is how they treat us by lying to us. They obviously do not care about their customers and due to their treatment of me this will be the very LAST Chevy/GM vehicle I ever own. Sad since I have had one since I was 16, but they got their money out of me and that's all they care about. Way to go Chevy!!!!

From comments I have been reading here it seems to me there isn't any customer service. To many get the runaround from customer service only to be denied a fix for the problem. Customer service from Chevy and GM should just replace these dashes without question. Why should owners of any of these vehicles whether bought new or used pay a dime for repairs. Anybody can see these parts were defective from the outset. I have bought many new used Chevys, more than I count on my hands. If I was in charge of GM these parts would be replaced free of charge and hope that I have satisfied my owners so they will return and by future products. This doesn't seem to be the case with GM right now. I hope they don't make to many people unhappy because I don't think they will get another bailout. Sorry for rambling on.

What I really like is that GM reps jump on here saying they want to help with the problem getting peoples hopes up to then rip their hearts out and stomp on them. GM is a despicable company that makes low quality vehicles plain and simple.

Justice247 good luck on your cracked dash. Chevrolet Customer Care - doesn't care. Here is a quote I received from Chevrolet Customer Care.

"Your case has been sent to your District Specialist. They will be in contact with you within 24 business hours to address the issue with your cracked dash.

If you do not receive a phone call by Monday, please let us know. If you have any questions or concerns before then, please do not hesitate to contact us here on the forum."

I contacted them again on Chevrolet Customer Care and they told me my case was closed, but I would receive another call regarding my claim, which also never happened. Thanks to the poor service from GM, my Office just purchased 150 Dodge Chargers instead of the Chevrolet Caprice after this incident and because GM raised the price. I will never look twice at the GM Fleet exhibit at our State and National conference. But don't worry, I'll tell them why.

Default You can forget the Reps its just a PR stunt

I wrote a comment about my dash and that I purchased the Suburban new and that also my sons Tahoe is doing the same thing. Both are 2008.

Amber and Erica from GM that monitor this site:confu sed: contacted me and said a rep would contact me also. Well a Deano (didn't give me his last name-imagine that) from GM called me and said he would have a dealer contact me for me to bring the car in. The dealer did call and I carried the car in 70 mile round trip and the dealer comes back with a estimate of $1,099.94 and said by putting the year and mileage into a formula that GM has them use they would cover only $500.00 of the $1099.94. The price of the dash replacement part on the estimate was over a $100.00 higher than what I could order the GM part from an online GM Parts dealer.
Well needless to say am totally disgusted with GM. I am a retired VP from two different oilfield service companies and friends with several other presidents and VP's of other oilfield service companies that have large fleets of trucks and cars. I am at the point that I am going to point all of their fleet managers to this forum and thread to see just how GM is. Believe me the fleet managers of these companies are not worried about price savings but all come from a oil field fraternity that is loyal and trust worthy.
Like everyone else has said it would have been so easy for GM to just own up to the problem of the dash's and the cheap door handles that the chrome is pealing and cutting people.

I did some rough calculations and Chevy sold approx. 3.3 mil Tahoes, Suburbans, and Silverdaos from 2007 to 2011. I wonder how many have had cracked dashes? With this number of vehicles what is the real cost of each dash being its just a formed piece of plastic. I had thought maybe $50. but looking at these numbers just for Chevy not GM or Cadillac. whats the cost a couple of dollars maybe. SO GM is it worth it to save a few dollars by not fixing this problem and losing the thousands of dollars on each lost customer because you refuse to just fix the problem. They need someone with common sense at corporate
