2011 Suburban - d-pillar speakers?
 

The boys in the 3rd row are always complaining that they can't hear the music. Are there plug and play d-pillar speakers? Looks like the pillar cover is ready for them and since the Bose system is 10 speakers I imagine they might be pre-wired. I've scoured the interwebs for a part # but with no luck. Anyone got any ideas?

are you talking about the small speakers by the back window? They are really only their for "fill" and not really to be loud.
you may be able to pull them out and replace with some aftermarket ones that would be slightly more clear...dont' really know for sure

If you have the RSE, then they can listen on the wireless headphones.

either that or to much noise from the boys in second and first row IMO:D

We've got an LS which the spec sheet says only has 6 speakers (4 doors and a-pillar tweeters), so I'm guessing there are no speakers there at all. I've faded the stereo to rears only and cranked it and there's no sound coming from there. I was hoping that they're already prewired and that all I had to do was buy the OEM speakers and pop 'em in.

Maybe I'll have time over the weekend to pull the panel off and see what's back there.

oh I see what you are saying. yes I am sure they are wired already - I mean it would be too much of a pain/risk of messing up if you didn't wire all of them the same. But you would have to pull the panel to see. The problem is you have a different head unit and amplifier so even if you put speakers there and there are wires, I don't think there will be any signal back there unless you replace the headunit also...

you may just want to replace your back door speakers (or all of the door speakers) with some good aftermarket ones. They would be more clear and look for ones with the highest sensitivity level (measured in dbs). Those will play louder with the same power vs speakers with a lower sensitivity rating.

Let us know what you find out.

If a stock speaker exists it would be a 1-1/2" which would not deliver much sound so I decided to use a larger speaker by making some modifications.
I just installed a pair of 3-1/2" coaxial Clarion speakers in the rear pillar location. The wiring is already there and active. Slight modifications are required to the back of the pillar trim but it is not too hard. All modifications are on the back of the trim panel and finished side is not modified and remains "stock". Remove the trim panels from the pillars, using a muti-tool cut 3 tabs off (where the speakers should go)and make the opening for the speaker larger. Secure the speaker to the back of the trim panel and hook up the factory wires.
I took me about 20 min. to do both.
Adding these really balanced the sound for the middle seat and now the third row can hear everything.

that is a good idea - I figured the stock system didnt put much power back to those speakers to make new speakers any better but may be worth a shot considering how cheap 3.5 inch speakers are and how quiet the stock system is.
I really want to replace all of the speakers. stock sounds ok down low but I hate when you turn it up loud the stock system simply adds more midrange and sounds all out of whack
but that is what you get with bose junk systems in vehicles.
