2011 Tahoe radio cuts out

I have a 2011 Tahoe with nav and backup camera. I have noticed an issue with the audio that I haven't been able to figure our or find help with yet.

When listening to music, no matter if it is AUX/USB, CD, or AM/FM, the radio cuts out and goes silent for a second every so often. At first, I thought this might be a short in the wiring or some mechanical driven event (i.e. turning on blinker, going over bump, dimming lights, etc.), but it turns out the silence was happening in a pattern. I timed it and figured out this silence happens for one second every ~43 seconds. There is no static sound, there is no consistent outside event I can pin down, so I am thinking it may be something with the programming of the radio - maybe scanning for a device (i.e. bluetooth phone, USB, AUX) - or some other programming problem.

Has anyone else experienced this problem or have a suggestion as to how to fix it? I am about to take a 2,000 mile trip and this consistent cutting out could drive me crazy if I can't fix it before I leave.

Tank you,

BEN

radio

does the radio turn off or just all volume cuts?

Does the bluetooth icon turn on? like it's muting it?

My guess is either bluetooth is telling it to cut audio, or the amp is shutting off somehow.

what's the headunit do while the audio is out?

re: radio

SabrToothSqrl, thank you for your reply.

The radio does not turn off, only the volume cuts.

I did not pay attention to the bluetooth icon, but I will check that.

The head unit doesn't do anything visibly like flicker or flash. I have not seen the volume display turn down or show the audio is muted.

The cyclical nature of the cut out is what confuses me most.

audio

So, yea my guess is still a bluetooth short or amp short.

If you get the icon when it happens, maybe something is apply 12v to the bluetooth wire on the headunit. that just mutes it.

Is it all OEM or do you have after market stuff?

Maybe the amp is shot.

re: audio

I will definitely give the bluetooth a good inspection.

Everything is factory OEM on the radio; no aftermarket parts.

I hope it's not the amp, because that would be a pain to replace.

Radio cuts in and out

I have the same issue with my 2009 Tahoe radio. It cuts out for just a second. It seems to be about the same amount of time between each time it cuts out. Has anyone identified the problem yet?

Did anyone ever find a reason for the radio pauses? When left sitting for about a week my 2011 2500HD battery will now die too.

It's not bluetooth since I don't have any bluetooth devices connected to the truck. This seems to happen to enough vehicles that someone somewhere may possibly have figured out what is going on.
