2nd row seating
 

On my 07 Tahoe I have 2 buckets for second row seating. I would like to install the bench style seat so I can carry a third passenger.Does anyone know ifthe bench style (60/40) bolt up to the existing holes without any mods? Thanks....

Interesting, I was thiking about asking the opposite question.
I have an 07 Suburban LTZ with power-folding seats, and I was wondering if captain's chairs could be swapped in.

Any chance you have black leather interior? If so, and they're compatible, wanna swap? I'm in Florida...

Hi, yes I have a LT3 andmy interior is black leather and in excellent condition. Mytruck is only 2 months old. What condition are you're seats, I would be interested in a swap I need room for 3 in the second row. Thanks, George....

When I bought my 07, the dealer was having a tough time finding an LTZ with 2nd row bench and the color I wanted, but ironically he had one on the lot that met my specs with buckets and I asked why not do a seat swap and his response was liability and insurance issues and that the VIN code of that vehicle had been associated with 2nd row buckets. So he had to do a dealer trade a couple of hundred miles away.

But since the trucks are outside of dealer's control, there probably isn't any issues with swapping.Of course if you get in a bad wreck and you had "out of specs" seats in the 2nd row, a problem could arise?

A preliminary update for anybody else who might be looking into this. My 07 bench-seat Suburban has a removable cover on the floor which hides a pair of large metal brackets which are bolted to the floor. These brackets are what the bench seats mount to. We expect that CG's 07 Tahoe will have similar brackets designed for the 2nd row bucket seats. So it looks like with the removal of the floor cover (which is poorly secured with Velcro) and the brackets, the swap is pretty straightforward.

More news -- we exchanged photos and it looks like the bracket in the Tahoe has a step-up at the rear for the wheel well and the axle area, whereas the bracket in the Suburban is flat. This means the latches on the bottom of the seat are probably slightly different, too. It's a bit annoying, since they're VERY similar.

George is planning to talk with a parts guy at a dealership just to be completely sure, but it looks like the swap isn't possible between a Tahoe and a Suburban. However, a Tahoe-to-Tahoe swap or two-Suburban swap ought to be possible by simply removing these brackets and swapping them along with the seats.

So, anybody with a Tahoe bench in black leather, contact George, and anybody with Suburban captain's chairs, contact me. :)

I don't see why the brackets on the bottom of the seats can't be swaped out also?

If you were doing a Tahoe-to-Tahoe swap or a Suburban-to-Suburban swap, I'm pretty sure you'd just swap the brackets, too.

But we were trying a Tahoe/Suburban swap, and that step-up on the rear of the Tahoe bracket looks like a deal-breaker. Not only will the brackets not match, but it looks like the base of the seat is also probably different (meaning I can't just go to Chevy and try to buy brackets).

I really don't see GM making two different rear seats? I bet the seats are all the same and the bracket is the only difference in the whole set up. Remove your seat and then see if it's easy to remove the bracket from the seat? If it is then keep your brackets and swap the seats. The only thing you may need to do is by a few matching brackets to complete the swap?
