4x4 Encoder motor
 

I have an 04 Suburban. I am having an issue with it not going into 4x4 each time that I push the button. This is an intermittent problem. Also, sometimes 'service 4x4' comes up on the DIC. My shop looked at it and said it was the Encoder motor that I guess tells it to go into 4 wheel drive. My question is 'has anyone else experienced this issue? Do you know of a good schematics website so I can see what this encoder motor looks like and where it is located? Any place that you all like to buy parts at a less than expensive site than the dealers? Thank you for any feedback. Dukman88

DuckMan was a cartoon on USA late night...

Have the same problem with my 03 hoe. Took it to the dealer and was told that it's aprox $1200 to fix, been holding off on it.

that would be about right they really do not look to hard to replace

I click on the link you provided (and me not being a mechanic at all but a DIY) it seems simple enough to execute. Reading the post here and other site, the part is certainly much cheaper than what the dealer charges.

They got to make money somehow
