Default 85 suburban 6.2 liter diesel

anyone know what kind of gas mileage to expect out of this type of vehicle? I am thinking about purchasing one, but am curious about this?

not really good. probably 14 or so highway, half that in city. the 6.2 diesel isn't really a great motor. the 6.5 in the mid 90's is a better motor, better mileage. an 85 'burb with the 6.2 shouldn't be more than about $2500 or so. if they're asking more, i personally would pass, save the $ for the 6.5 diesel, or a duramax.

even a 4x4?....the one I'm looking at they are asking 5K for, the outside is in great shape and the interior needs a little work but not much (just typical 25 yo damage) I really don't want a year model much newer than that, because I don't want to get into a SAS.

Man I was hoping for better than that though. I would have thought diesel would get 15 or so around town, especially if it was still stock.

the 6.2 is a non turbo, non efficient motor. gets bout the same as a gas motor, tows about the same. really not a good motor, which is why gm quit makin it after a short time. parts gettin really hard to come by as well, as most companies have quit making them. 88 or newer diesel, or just stick with a gas motor. $5k is a bit high, to me anyway.

$5k for that vehicle is crazy if you ask me...from all I read that engine is pretty worthless honestly
