Default 99 Tahoe Rear brake light problem

I used hazard lights for an extended period of time while pulling a trailer. Since then, the hazard lights do not work. When the switch is in OFF position I do not have any running lights, blinkers, hazard lights or brake lights. When the switch is in the ON position the hazard lights do not work but everything else except rear brake lights work. The third brake light will work but not the rear brake lights. I have been told the multi function switch is what needs replacing. Wondering if anyone else has had this problem with their Tahoe.

replace the relay 1st. They are only $7 and there may be burnt out contacts in them if they are thermal or a burnt out transistor if it is electronic.

Then think about the Multi Switch.
