Best way to debadge
I am wanting to remove all the lettering on my suburban. I am keeping the bowties but want everything else gone. What is the best way to remove the letters and tape without scratching the paint?

I am told a 3M 'paint wheel' works well for removing the residue. I think it goes on a drill.

I used mono-filament fishing line to cut thru the 3M foam tape and then used a citrus based solvent to remove the goo. You can also use a plastic or wooden instrument to pry them off but risk breaking the trim piece.
FYI you can remove the rear bowtie that way if you want to paint it. The front bowtie is held on by two 10mm nuts. |
I like the fishing line idea. I'm going t/o give it a try. Thanks for the idea's. The wheel works great, just wish I had one

I used 20# mono and then cleaned with mek. Then re waxed the car with Zaino wax.
Can't even tell the badges were there. Bought black bow ties front and rear from stylin. Trucks |
