brake line replacement.
Hello ok what i'm having done.is total fuel line brake line mastercylinder abs modu
pump all 4 rubber hose.my question is i got qutoe of 1000 for labor only.rest is me buying part's 998.is this a fair price for the labor? |
If your referring to front to rear steel line replacement; sounds more than fair to me. For the steel brake lines alone I would bill 1 hour per line plus 0.5 hours to remove the old lines and bleed the system. if you have the 3 channel abs that would be 5 replacement lines (2 from the m/c to the abs pump, 2 to the front brakes and 1 to the rear) and 6 lines for the 4 channel system.
2 hours for the fuel lines. I'm not sure of the book time for 3 flex lines or 4 if you have the four channel system....the abs pump or master cylinder. what happened...someone put a petroleum based fluid in the brake system? |
No was northern state suv from indianapolis.and the line's are toasted from road salt along with the gm useing wrong line's not good combo.also on side note i'm going with prebent stainless steel line's
|
Stainless works. I usually use copper/nickel as it is easy to work with and doesn't rust. Whenever I use steel it gets sprayed with rubberized rockerguard, otherwise it would have surface rust in 6months.

Sorry i forgot to say in non tracion control.if wasnt such a big project i would do it.but to much for me to handle without the right tool's
|
its not a job I would do laying on my back in a driveway. One line maybe, not everything front to rear.
|
Just bumping to add that doing this job with is lift is a lot better, in part because of the long lengths, and angle of entry into the frame area. A lot of going back and forth, to feed / pull line too.

I just installed dorman stainless steal kit
