Is it possible to know the build date from looking at the VIN?

RE: Build Date

yes, but you can also look in the drivers door jamb.

Thanks but, I knew that, but per Chevy's website, you can search inventory of dealers in your area. There is a dealer that has the exact model that I am interested in, color and everything. The dealers close to me do not have anything but Ls, LT1 and LT2. The website shows the VIN, and I really do not want to drive 90 miles to see it if it is a onld build date.

Thanks again for the info about the door jam, but it kind of defeats the purpose of not driving over an hour. :)

You can just call that dealer that has it and have them look on the invoice? I had to do this right before I got my Tahoe...they were going to do a dealer trade for the truck I saw on the internet. I called, and found out the truck was 6 months old already! Used that as leverage when they got it, and demanded a newer vehicle or I was walking...they "found" a brand new one that they had ordered for the dealer, it was just being unloaded off the train from GM...

Anyways, a simple phone call to that dealer would get you the info...I know, not as easy as seeing on the internet, but better than driving 90 miles to check the sticker...

Thanks ZX, is that build date okay? I thought I read some place about the 06 models having issues that the 07 builds were not. What are your thoughts? Thanks again.
