Car jerks just before making a complete stop
I am having this weird problem. its been happening for the last 6 months and its annoying. When I am driving and then getting into a complete stop or dead slow, the car jerks as it got a push. This happens when slowing down towards a complete stop. I showed it to the dealer and initially he said it doesn't seems to be a gear problem, however, getting it checked out by the dealer, they said that they suspect the gear and just to open the gear will cost $1,500 and the replace any parts, it could reach to a total of $6,000.
For some reason, I have a feeling that they are taking me for a ride. Any advice on what action to take, this is a 2009 Tahoe with around 110K miles, dealer maintained from new. |
"the gear" means differential?

I'd assume the OP means the transmission. Sounds like maybe a torque converter lockup problem? |
I'd wager u-joint and or drive-shaft...

I doubt it costs $1500 to crack the differential open.
