Dealership ignored the issue before warranty expired, now it becomes worst.

I bought my Captive with 10,000 miles and when I realized that it was creating some kind of noise when it is in motion, kinda calling for more gas when uphill. I took it to the dealership and they said it was nothing to worry about. It was test driven and they said, don't worry about it. I told them my concern if the warranty ends, and the noise become prominent, then I will have a problem. The manager who did the test drive told me that it is nothing to worry about . Now I had been driving the car and I have 50,000 miles on it and the noise become prominent. I took it to the dealership and they told me to pay for the diagnosis. The same manager told me that he could not give me an estimate. At first he was denying that he coukd hear the noise; however, it was too loud to be ignored (unless he has hearing impairment). He told us that he has not heard that kind of noise in his 39 yrs of working in Chevy. (amazing! isn't it?) Now that the warranty is over and he wants me to pay for the repair, which he refused to give me at least an idea of what was wrong with it and how much at least it would cost me. It was his fault in the first place, because he did not diagnose appropriately what was wrong with my car when it was under warranty.

How many miles were on it when you first took it back?
