DVD problem 2007 Suburban

Can just the DVD be repaired in a Suburban with the DVD\Navigation? Daughter put change into DVD and after taking to Chevrolet dealer to be repaired, it worked once then shorted out.

Your dealer should be able to repair the DVD unit for you. What do you mean by "shorted out"? Is it not working at all? Is it getting power?

DVD problem

When I took the Suburban to the dealer, they removed the DVD\Nav system, removed the top of the DVD player and shook the unit until the change slid out. The DVD was reassembled and put back in the Suburban, we put a DVD in to check the player and it worked. Then the shop put the temperature control and the bottom row of control panel back in but while the bottom controls were being replaced the DVD\Nav unit turned off like it had a short in it but came back on when we turned the truck off and back on. I did not try the DVD player again for three days. When I tried to use it, the DVD player would not take the disc in, it acted like it was off. When I took it back to the shop, they took out the DVD\Nav system again, took off the top and back, then shook it till a penny was freed up and then removed. According to the shop, the penny acted as a conductor and shorted out the DVD player. I am being told the DVD player and Nav system has to be replaced as one whole unit and will cost over $1,000. Can the DVD player that sits on top of the Nav\Radio screen be replaced or does the whole DVD\Nav system unit have to be replaced. It seems odd that the solution to trying to fix the problem involves shaking the unit and hoping all the change falls out and if not, then the shop is not responsible because it is the best they can do. Please help.

The stock DVD/Navigation is combined as one unit, so it would have to be replaced as a whole unit. You are more than welcome to consider other DVD/Navigation units if you prefer.

How does the dealer even know if they got all of the money out of it. Maybe they left some in and that shorted it out. They broke it so they should fix it.

How and why was a child ever given enough unsupervised access to the vehicle for anything to be inserted!?!?
Its vehicle not a play pin
