Factroy Amp questions

After weighing my options, I've decided to go ahead and install a "carputer" (www.mp3car.com) in my Tahoe. This will cost about as much as a standalone navigation system would, but will have that (only much more powerfull), as well as satelite radio, thousands of hours of MP3s, Video, Internet, DVD, USB, backup cameras, and pretty much anything else you can imagine doing with a personal computer.

Anyway, long story short, I want to remove the head-unit, and replace it with a touch-screen, which will control everything. I think I've located the factory amp behind the glove compartment, and I'm wondering how one would go about connecting inputs to the amp. The outputs from the computer audio will be between 2v-6v; so no need for a line driver.I have no problem doing the necessary soldering to make the connections (and I've learned that the pink wire on the back of the head unit is the amp remote wire). But I've heard that the amp will only power the front speakers with any sort of aftermarket stereo equipment. Is this correct, or is there a way to wire the inputs to still be powered by the factory amp for all speakers?

EDIT: Almost forgot, I have a 2001 Chevy Tahoe, None-Bose, with Onstar, but I don't care about keeping Onstar functional.
