Help with 2002 Chevy Suburban 2WD Noise in Reverse

I have a 2002 Suburban 2WD with just over 100K miles on it. A week ago it started making a squeaking noise when backing up. I thought it was probably the brakes so I took it in to get them checked. Was advised the brakes were fine and still had 60% life left on the pads. What would cause a squeak while traveling in reverse? As you go faster in reverse the squeak goes faster. The squeak is there whether or not you are applying brake pressure. NOTE that if I place it in reverse, start backing up (squeaky noise), then put it in neutral, coast backwards the noise stops. I thought it may be a U-Joint issue; however I would think it would continue to squeak while coasting backwards. I'm perplexed.

Welcome to the forum.

A bad U-joint will probably not make any noise when it's unloaded.
