Help: 2008 Tahoe Hybrid LEMON

Hey everyone I am new here and figured this would be the best place to get some feedbacks on my question..

So Ive been looking for a tahoe hybrid and found a 2008 with 60k miles.. all is going good... about to sign papers and the dealer tells me OH ITS A MANUFACTURERS BUY BACK, A LEMON BRAND ON THE TITLE.. I dont really know a lot about it.. but he told me that the 1st owner had it till it had 15k miles and that is when GM bought it back and then someone else bought it and just now traded it in to the dealership where I am going to/or will get it from.. so the 2nd driver drove it for 45k miles and they say they did a 130 point inspection and it is all good, but you know how dealers are..

I just wanted to see what you guys think about this and if it is a good deal.. they are wanting 27.5k, (it is a hybrid, with navigation, back up cam, sun roof, rear entertainment drop down tv) that is the price we agreed to with me thinking its a clean title.. so I told them to wait till I do some research.. All the help would be really helpful!

Thank you

Welcome to the forum.

If $27.5K is the price you negotiated, then it's a good deal by definition. Did you ask for an extended warranty since it was a buyback?

What do you mean by definition? How long of a warranty should I ask for?

A good deal is usually defined as what a seller will accept and what a buyer is willing to pay.

I'd start with 3/36 and go from there. Justify it by reminding them that it was a lemon buy-back.

Ok, anyone else have any experience with lemon buy backs?

Not to sound dumb BUT! How do you start a new thread on this forum?

Go back to the Tahoe sub forum and at the upper left is a button to start a new thread. It says "New Thread".

Never worry about being thought dumb as we were all "noobies" at one time.

xx, did you buy it?

If that is the price you guys were discussing PRIOR to the introduction that it was a lemon, then use that knowledge as leverage to drop the price.

Try and figure out how long this dealer has had the car. Also, take a look at their lot. Is it full?

If the dealer has had it 3 months or more, and their lot appears full, then I'd personally shoot for $5k less than the price. Be prepared to walk. Make sure the salesman gets his sales manager in. Tell them $5k and then budge to $4k. If they don't take tat, then walk out. Chances are they will cave. If they don't, just leave. Expect them to follow-up with a phone call.

27.5 is what you should be paying for a clean title vehicle. imo if your in no rush i'd try what buybig said maybe even shoot for 6k and if they don't go for it...walk! i'm sure you can find another non-lemon for that kinda budget
