ignition switch need advise

Hello,

Does anyone know how long it takes to replace an ignition switch on a 2000 tahoe, I took it to the dealer and they are charging me just over $1000 and stated it will take them 7 hours to do. I just cannot see it taking that long nor costing that much

Hi Shawnvw, I'm new to the forum and wanted to know how to replace my ignition switch on my 04 Tahoe, it barely turns to the rear and even less forward after thieves forced selector from park to reverse to steel my cluster that was already eradic. By the way are the clusters on recall? My 01 Suburban cluster does the same thing, they both started acting up right after running out of fuel, tried to restart them both thinking they stalled.
