License Plate Bulb Removal

I'm replacing my license plate bulbs with LEDs but I'm not sure how to get the originals out. I unscrew the plastic housing and then there's the bulb in a white setting. Do I just get pliers and yank it that whole piece out? I'm just afraid I'm going to break something.

carefully remove the bulb from the socket.
Do not unscrew the socket....if you do, you must remove the applique that houses the socket, and 90% of the time, they break removing the bolts for them

Oh, so do I actually grab the bulb with my fingers and just pull it out? I was always under the impression that I shouldn't touch the actual bulb.

use latex gloves or a rag if you're worried about it.
The oil on your fingers can make them get too hot and burst, but I have never seen it happen on bulbs other than headlight bulbs

I think the finger oil or other contamination is only a problem on halogens due to the higher temp (creates a hot spot) and maybe the glass is different. Quartz??

I had to show some love with a follow up picture. I can't believe it was so easy to take that bulb out. I was yanking the whole bulb housing at first and probably almost broke the hell out of it.... But man, LEDs are the way to go!
