Nope, The ECM will support the same year model of any engine you put in the Tahoe. I am working on 300k miles on my 2007 Tahoe and am thinking about putting in a 6.2 out of a same year SUV like the Cadillac or Yukon Denali. They share the same ECU. I am not aware of any tuning that is required but you could call HP Tuning or Black Bear Tuning to verify.
So the short answer is you can keep your ECM with the replacement engine.

the crankshaft position sensor variation relearn will have to be performed or false misfire dtc will set at high rpms.
