Low Idle??
We have a 2003 Suburban that stalls whenever we come to a stop, like at a stop sign or traffic light, in order for it not to stall we have to step on the brake while maintaining the other food on the gas to keep the idle a little high. This doesn't happen if the car is on P. This is why hubby thinks it is he idle. Has anyone had this problem? How was it fixed?
Thank you so much for your time. |
Welcome to the forum.
First, you should never place food on the gas. ;) JK I suspect the Idle Air Control (IAC) may be dirty or bad. Try cleaning it and the rest of the throttle body. |
Thank you for your reply, is that hard to do??? Someone told me I need it to have it reprogrammed??

Just remove it and clean the carbon off. I think the computer will reprogram during driving.

I wanted to thank you for your IAC advice. Hubby did just that and he said it was so dirty it was horrible. Once he cleaned it... What a difference!!!! WOW!!! The truck runs so nice and smooth now. :D Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!

You're welcome, thanks for reporting back. Really helps the forum when others find this.

Not so much bad, but it is going to be wasteful for fuel and a band aide for the real problem... I would suggest cleaning the throttle body and plate as well as the IAC, and remove any mod you did to the cable... if you after that you still have an idle problem more troubleshooting is needed... |
