lowering and big rims??

im new to this forum but im on alot of other forums for bmws so i understand how to search, but i just cant find the answer im looking for.

im in the process of purchasing an 07 tahoe.
i see these guys with the 2/3 drops with 26" or bigger. they never mention if theirs any major rubbing.
so heres my question. do the tires on26"rub anything major like on the strut or on the fender.
i realize wheel offset has something to do with it, and that the ride will be rough but im not worried about that.

thanks guys, sam

glad to be here

RE: lowering and big rims??

welcome, with the 26's it will most probably rub with the drop. With the height of the tire areas to watch are going to be the front and rear fenderwell lining in the front. On the rearI think you have enough clearance with the height. If you run 10" wide wheels then you might have some trouble with the tire rubbing on the inner rear liners. You could cut or reshape the liner but I still think it would be close, especially when carrying gear or people. Most of the Tahoe's here on 26's are not dropped and they complain of rubbing. And of course the offset would make a lot of difference. I'm running 24's with a 9 inch width and 11.3" width tires and I have no rub in the back loaded or unloaded, but have a very slight rub at times when backing up and turning. I see where it rubs but havent had a change to get to it. It happens at the Daycare in one particular parking spot and in my own damn driveway. It seems like a simple fix but I can avoid the rubbing so I havent made it a concern yet. Next time the wheels come off I'm fixing it. Its on one of the clips that hold the liner to the fender. I have no rub marks on the liner itself..........again welcome
