Muffler Buzzing Heat Shield
 

2005 Suburban 5.3
Over the years we have had several episodes of a buzzing/rattling muffler heat shield. Mechanic tack welds it but it's a recurring nuisance. Mechanic says replace the muffler to fix. Seems like a waste/expense to change a perfectly good muffler. Noise is especially bothersome at low rpms just getting going from a stop. Suggestions for a good fix appreciated!

metal has lost its temper. replace it

More tack welds to hold the shield down longer or replace the muffler...:rolleyes:
