Programming a New RKE Fob?

Me: 2007 Suburban LTZ with RKE and Remote Start

I only got one key and remote when I purchased this last week. I see Amazon has the RKE for about $50. Seems like a good buy. However, how does one get this programmed for their specific car? Can it be done DIY? Or, do I have to go to dealer?

Thanks. Sorry if it is a stupid question. I am a Sub Noob!

Make sure that you are getting the correct RKE for your specific vehicle. To program the fob, follow the following instructions:
1. Press the vehicle information button until PRESS V TO RELEARN REMOTE KEY displays.
2. Press the set/reset button until REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE is displayed.
3. Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the first transmitter at the same time for approximately 15 seconds. A chime will sound indicating that the transmitter is matched.
4. To match additional transmitters at this time, repeat Step 3. Each vehicle can have a maximum of eight transmitters matched to it.
5. To exit the programming mode, you must cycle the key to LOCK.

For your reference, these instructions are available in your owner's manual on page 249.

If you continue to have issue programming the fob, you may have to visit your local dealer.

Best of luck!
