Relieving fuel pressure
I will be replacing the fuel filter and the fuel pressure regulator in my 2002 Suburban LS with the 5.3 flex-fuel engine. I need to know how to relieve the fuel pressure so that I can do both safely. TIA!

Welcome to the forum...
Most fuel pressure gauges have a relief valve on them that you can use a catch can to capture the bleed off fuel.... The shade tree way is to simply crack open a fitting along the fuel line and let it bleed down.... If the vehicle sits overnight without being started the next day, most of the pressure will have bled down... Just be mindful with any of these methods that you will have exposure to raw gasoline to which its sole purpose in life is to be extremely flammable... |
lots of ways to skin this cat...you could also pull the fuel pump fuse. start the engine and let it run till it stalls. crank it over 3 more times and your good.

Since I am having a problem with the pressure regulator (I believe, I'll be replacing it), I'll wait overnight an carefully crack open the line. Just hoping that these don't prove top be a PITA.
