Service TPMS

Service TPMS
Has anyone had this problem? 07 Tahoe LTZ. I get the service TPMS message. While scrolling through tire pressures all is there for each tire is"--". I have tried doing a relearn and while I'm in the relearn I let air out for about 8-10 seconds and the truck never respondes. I just bought the truck and I am wondering if someone took all the sensors out of the wheels for some reason... anyone?

Most of the 2007 TPMS had the metal stem. If your valve stems are rubber, good chance that the monitors have been removed. Some tire stores can check for you.

Silverlx,
I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue. I encourage you to have your dealership make sure you still have your sensors.
Thank you,
Elizabeth, Chevrolet Customer Service

Thanks to all those folks about ten years ago driving Ford Exploders w/ underinflated, questionable Firestone tires at 70+mph in 90*+ weather and wondered why they shredded. Candidates for the Darwin Award.

not fully accurate...
Yes, I'm aware Big Brother forced it upon us.
Ford built an exploder that would not pass rollover tests.
Ford, rather than fixing the problem, labeled the vehicles to be run with lower air pressure.
low tire pressure causes more tire flex, especially at speed and with higher outside temps (CA,AZ,TX, etc)
thus you get blown tires.
it was NOT the fault of the operators of these vehicles. The tires were inflated to the pressure identified by Ford as correct.

adding to the confusion, the GoodYear tires, to the same specs, didn't blow! so was it ford? was it firestone?
250 people are dead. that's about 250 more than needed.
Sadly, in this case, TPMS would not have mattered, if the tires were inflated to Ford spec, they would still have failed.

Nobody should inflate their tires to the sidewall max. pressure. If the truck rolled w/ 26 psi, then there was a chassis design problem.
If the Firestone tires fail at 26 psi cold pressure, then there was a design problem. Never liked Firestone tires anyway since they recalled the 500s on my Corvette.
