Simple way to know if 2007 Tahoe has a 3.73 rear-axle ratio?
I wonder if you guys know of a simple way to determine if a used 2007 Tahoe I'm looking at to buy has a 3.73 rear-axle ratio or not? To me this issue is important to determine the towing capacity of the vehicle (which would be about 7,200 with the 3.73 ratio.) I checked and the VIN search tool posted above in "Tools" doesn't specify the rear-axle ratio (or I missed it!)

Well, yea, especially with a 4wd. Manual way is to count the helical gears on the drive, then the pinon, then divide the two.

find out the rpo build code for a 3.73 axle....then check it against the build sheet in the glove box of the vehicle in question.

Hey! Thank you very much -- that should indeed work. Have a nice day!
(By the way, I completely ignored the "B-pillar" codes thing! I just went to my 2003 GM vehicle and I did find the label with the bunch of codes, even though in my car it's in the rear door -- wonderful stuff!)
