Sirius for 2012 Suburban

I know this has probably been asked before but where is the XM tuner in the 2012 Suburban? I have a Sirius tuner (SIR-GM1) that I took out of my 06 Vette. It already has a lifetime subscription on it so I figured I would just swap it out. On the Vette it was as simple as swapping the tuner boxes.

Any advise is welcomed.

Thanks

XM and Sirruis are now "one". Did you have an online account with one or the other? Call them, get you sky fi # to them to activate your account. If it is active, you shouldn't have to do anything other than external antennea. If you are wanting to change your account to a different reciever, you will have to call them

I went round for round on the phone with them. I was told that they wouldn't transfer my lifetime Sirius subscription to the XM in the new Suburban. I would have to buy a new subscription. It was never even suggested that I switch to a Sirius receiver. They only want to sell new subscriptions.

I believe it's behind the glove box, but between a 2006 and 2012 you may have an issue.

I'm not sure it's possible, but if it is, I've love a write up to read.

All Better Now

Well, I guess they felt the pressure. A manager called me and said they would transfer my subscription to XM. I feel like there may be an unknown hitch but I'll take the deal for now. Thanks for all the help. This forum is very cool and has top notch members.

the forum is ok, but I know I rock lol.

lifetime is supposed to be lifetime of the equipment, not you... how did you get them to cave?

I also own 1,000 shares of SiriusXM :) so you should buy some more subscriptions ;)

Now I know who I can yell at the next time they raise the price on me! I only subscribed because I couldn't stand the crappy FM reception any longer...it's a conspiracy, I tell you!

BTW if you threaten to cancel, you can get a one year promo rate at 1/2 price. :)

I'm surprised you haven't noticed the FM static problem IN your Tahoe.

As the saying goes, there's a TSB for that. Ever since I've had the '07 Suburban, my favorite FM station has come in loud and clear for about a quarter mile at a time on average. On one of my trips to the dealership I had them check the antenna connections and reprogram the receiver. When I picked up the truck, my FM was great! For about 100 feet, until I turned out of their driveway. The three Mercedes in my household all have the old-fashioned automatic power mast antennas, which have had to be replaced at great expense one time or another. But listening to FM in any one of them is like sitting in a concert hall.

So now I have Sirius XM, which I pay for. Great reception and commercial-free. Except for the announcers who are one long running commercial for themselves. Listen to "60s on 6" and see if you're not ready to strangle "Cousin Brucie" after five minutes!
