Steering Wheel

Dont know how it happened, but my new suburbans steering wheel isn't completely straight when I'm running down the road straight. It's cocked slightly to the right. How can I adjust the wheel so it's the way it was brand new 3300 miles ago. Can I go through the steering wheel itself, and if so how do I do it. I'm afraid to tug on the area on the wheel that houses the crash bag.

RE: Steering Wheel

If the steering wheel is not centered while driving on an uncrowned road then the alignment is out and the front-end needs to be realigned.
DO NOT tug on the steering wheel or anything else.

The GM factory warranty will cover this adjustment until the vehicle has 7,500 racked up on the odometer.

All go ahead and set-up an appointment for a re-alignment then. Just curious,......but what would cause this wheel to clock to the right when we never hit anything, nor does the truck pull to the left or right?

RE: Steering Wheel

The suspension and steering components settling during the first few thousand miles after production, this is very normal.
Also note: that the dealer will not perform an aligment under warranty until the vehicle has at least 1,000 miles on it.

One other question,......if the wheel is cocked, then why isn't the truck pulling ?

RE: Steering Wheel

Put the vehicle in for an Oil Change today, and also told them (Dealer) to adjust the wheel. The reason it was like that was because the Toe was out. They adjusted, or shall I say did a front end alignment and now it's all fixed. It was covered under warranty.

I'm glad the steering wheels fixed because it drove me nut's. I guess my OCD was kicking in. :D
