What temps are you all seeing?


I live in AZ and it gets HOT. I have seen 210 degrees on the trans temp, no towing.


Is that normal?

Yes, it's normal. Typical operating temp is 100° over ambient. 180-200° is common.

I believe you get the warning at 265°.

I've had mine as high as 235°.

Dexron 6 doesn't start to break down until the high 200s.

Most Fluid Manufacturers will list 200° as their recommended maximum. However, I think that's a conservative number, and many exceed that some. Given that the Fluid moves through the Capsule in the bottom of the radiator (which is good for warming it up quickly) you should see a minimum of 185° regularly.

Often times, with those who run in very hot ambient temperatures, will add an axillary fan to an existing cooler, or, that with a Diverter Valve, which initially directs the tranny Fluid completely away from the radiator capsule, and unloads that duty from the Radiator.
