Trick Park

Does anyone know how easy or hard it is to install a switch to make the vehicle "think" it's in park while going down the road? I would like to do this so my wife can input addresses into the gps while I'm driving, and so she can sit in the front seat and watch DVD's while I'm driving.

If you have a factory radio you need to purchase a lock pick. Google GM lock pick.

Lock Pick

Looks very nice!! Is there a non 240.00$ option? I'm just kind of a cheap skate

Not on factory radio.

cheap options

we've all tried cheap tricks to make it work, i had some success w/a VSS interrupt switch... but took it out since it caused other issues.

get the lock pick.

There are used lock picks on ebay. I bought one and installed it in my suburban, works great. GPS and dvd are pretty worthless without it!

How easy is the Lock Pick install? I know it's really easy to get to on a Chrysler, but I just got a Suburban yesterday and haven't had the chance to check it out. Is there a tutorial on here that shows step by step?

INSTALLATION DEMO

Coastal tech's website has a video instruction that I used, it was pretty easy to do.

I was reading through what the website was saying, and it was talking about controling the factory rearview camera. I must not have read far enough into it, but how do you control it, and why would you want to?

If installed correctly (you must tap into the rear camera) you control it via the menu functions on the lock pick itself. I use it when I am pulling a trailer. I can have the rear camera display on my navigation screen for the entire trip if I wanted to. I don't usually do that, but if I am hauling cargo that tends to shift around, I usually put it on for a little bit to watch it easier. It's better then straining to see out the back, or via the mirrors. It's actually quite useful! :)
