what size tire for 22 in wheel?

hi
just had question about tire. currently i have 22 wheel with 305/40/22 tire i m planning to powder coat my rim and just thinking of getting new tires. well went to couple of places to look at tires some places recommend 285/45/22 and 305/45/22. my tahoe is stock height. whats the big difference? will the tire affect my towing ability? i just want a tire that has less gap and still have same towing ability as stock so which should i go with? please help me decide~

If you have the correct off-set for the 07's I recommend 285/45/22. Thats what Im running and they run smoother than the 305's did.

I'm running the Nitto 285/50R22's with a Rancho Quick Lift on the front and thankfuly so. It is tight - tight. I also had to trim about an inch off of the rear inner fender where it bulges for the shock bolt. It rubbed bad when I loaded the boat trailer. Just an inch cured it. Up front it nearly rubs the front outer edge on the inner fender when cranked inboard & the rear outer edge has rubbed about 1/3 of the way in on the back of the inner fender when cranked and backing over a bump. Just gotta be cautious how we drive in some instances now...
Hope this helps your decision.

I have the 305's (Falken Ziexon mine and I'm not entirely pleased with the ride quality. I will definitely go to the 285s when I have to buy rubber next time. I also get a little rubbing in the rear under load.
