Power rear liftgate problem

I have a 2008 3LT burb with a power lift gate. When I push the fob button, or when I push the button on the lift gate I can hear the latch releasing and the lights flash but the door will not open. I can open it manually and it will stay open, but it will not open under power. any thoughts?
