What years 2.0L replacement engine fits '00 Tracker?

My '00 tracker 2.0l 2wd had a #3 rod failure and pretty much ruined the whole engine. None of our local yard have any 2.0l engines so I have been shopping online from different salvage yards. Seems the interchange yrs for mine is 99-00 and then 01-04 is considered not interchangeable. Can anyone tell me what the differences are between the model years? Seems the 01-04 models are more plentiful, better pricing, more warranty, and less mileage on used 2.0l engines. Every savage yard I ask just says no an '01-'04 will not interchange to a '00 but can not tell me why just because his little computer screen says it can't. I want to know from someone with first hand experience what is the major differences or is it simple things I can change like my intake, exhaust manifold and mounts with the head and blocks being the same? Please if anyone has any helpful info for me on my engine replacement quest please share. Thanks James

OK let's try this. Does anyone here have an '01-04 Tracker 2.0L?

Anyone know if the head and blocks are the same between the year ranges? That's all I'm really worried about, I can bolt on all the stuff over from my engine if need be

Can anyone put me in contact with a tracker/Suzuki 2.0l guru that knows them in and out?
