2006 trailblazer starter constantly runs with keys removed

I have a 2006 trailblazer. I replaced the starter and when I connect the positive cable to the battery, the starter engages and doesn't stop. I replaced the ignition switch, swapped relays, to no avail.

Was that the reason for starter change also?
