Can shift gears without having to depress brakes key stuck
2006 Chevy Trailblazer
Initially the keys were stuck in ignition lock cylinder and could only be turned to back acc mode, it would drain battery. In addition shifter moves through gears without depressing the brake. Brake lights work and no problems with any interior lights or electrical components. Shift cable is good and shift indicator correctly shows R, N, D, etc when shifter is moved. Car moves when put in reverse or drive. As for the keys being stuck I just forcefully removed them with pliers. Then I removed the shift interlock solenoid and plugged it back it I was able to turn it fully off and it released the keys with ease. However after I tried to start it again it refused to turn at all. It’s able to start if you give the key a little smack and maneuver it a certain way ones the key is in. Removed ignition lock cylinder and it doesn’t look too good. Is dirty and the part that supposed to go down when key is entered does not go down. Ordered the part should come Friday. Hopefully it turns when installed and it’s not related to the other problem. Although I think they are. Good = Key no longer gets stuck and can be finally powered off fully. Bad = Ignition lock cylinder doesn’t turn unless you smack key. And as for the shifting gears without having to depress the brake and shifter button being loose. I removed the shift interlock solenoid. Nothing seems wrong. It’s clean and nothing gets stuck. I went junk to get another. Plugged it in and problem persists. I’ve seen other people in forms/comments say they bought a new solenoid and that it didn’t fix the issue. They’re quite pricey which is why haven’t bought one id like to know for sure what the problem is. id appreciate any suggestions |
