Problem with dim battery and low fuel lights, even after ignition switch replaced

After I turned off the car a couple days ago and pulled the key out of the ignition, I noticed the battery and low fuel lights barely glowing. I saw multiple posts that the problem is generally the ignition switch, so I got that replaced today. Unfortunately, both lights are still barely glowing. What's the best way to troubleshoot this?

With the key out, the current draw is around 800mA. I've had the cable removed for the past few days, so I'm not sure exactly how long the battery will last without being discharged enough to not start. The battery without a key reads around 12.5V, and with the truck running is around 14.2V.

Thank you.

Sounds like you have a short , or bad ground somewhere.
remove fuses until the current drops.

2004 Trailblazer, 4.2L.

I can get the lamp to go out by removing the ipc/dic fuse, but then the truck won't start and the dash is dead.

Let me rephrase the above. The truck WILL start but the dash is dead. The ambient current drops to 127 mA.

that's good. You've narrowed down the problem to IPC circuit. it shouldn't take too long to inspect all the wires and connectors, or just rule out cluster altogether by unplugging it.
