Off-road
Anyone have any experience with the Traverse off-road, particularly on the beach?
|
Someone has to have had a Traverse off-road? We are looking at Equinox or Traverse to replace a Tahoe.

Much less ground clearance, no transfer case with lower gearing, did I mention less ground clearance, etc. It is not quite a Sport vehicle, and not quite a utility vehicle - more like a mini-van on a heavy steroid regimen IMHO.
Don't get me wrong - I traded in my '05 Silverado Crew Cab Z71 4WD for this 2010 Traverse - maybe I'm just getting old, but I REALLY like driving the Traverse!! |
Popular Mechanics comparo
I just read a PM comparison in which they actually took some CUVs offroad in the sand. Traverse did well:) until the AWD clutch got hot from cycling and stopped locking in the rear wheels.:( Once it cooled down it worked fine. Looks like someone out there could (or maybe has) :rolleyes:develop a chip or a bypass switch that would keep the clutch engaged in off-road driving. Then it would be a suitable off road driver from the results of the article. Anyone heard of such a mod?
