2019 chevy trax auto lock

I have a new 2019 chevy trax lt and parked for the first time in a public garage. as you know you leave your keys with them. I was told to leave the key in the suv and when I walked away the door locked. I had to have onstar unlock my doors. when I go to a garage is there a auto lock setting since they leave the keyfob in the suv and the doors lock.
